The Audition Process
If you decide after a few visits that Gem City Chorus is where you want to be, we can help you along the path to membership. We understand that taking the first step can be both exciting and a little nerve-wracking, so we offer a supportive audition process.
Pre-Audition
Before your official audition, you may opt to do what we call a “pre-audition.” This involves recording yourself singing one of our songs while the chorus sings along in the background. You’ll send this recording to the section leader of your assigned voice part, who will provide feedback and guidance to help you prepare.
Official Audition
When you feel confident and ready, you can proceed to your official audition. During this audition, you’ll sing your chosen song with other voice parts in a quartet setting, privately. This process ensures that you can hold your part confidently while others sing theirs. We do not expect perfection! We are here to educate and guide you until you feel comfortable, and we want this to be fun!
